EARLY CHILDHOOD INVESTMENT IN MAINE (Dec. 2008)

Presented to Governor Baldacci on March 16, 2009, this report highlights the three priorities identified by the Roundtable to most effectively improve early childhood systems in Maine. These are:

  • Public Awareness and Parent Education
  • Workforce Development

Please click on the link at left to read the full report, which includes a methodology for selecting the top strategies for investments in the early childhood system.

Purpose: Provide leadership on this issue
and help advise the Governor’s office
on policy decisions.

During the four meetings planned
for 2008, the Roundtable will:

  • Identify fundable and realistic priorities for investment in early childhood;
  • Determine a variety of public-private partnerships to finance the development and management early childhood systems, at the state and local levels; and
  • Provide recommendations to the Maine Children’s Growth Council and the Governor’s Office for sound policy direction.
